Last-Minute Congressional Effort Fails To Keep U.S. Government Open

On the one-year anniversary of President Trump’s inauguration, the American government shut down after Congress failed to pass a budget resolution Friday night. According to Us Weekly, an immigration measure played a big part in Republicans failure to get 60 votes, which were needed to vote on a budget resolution.
As a result of the shutdown, thousands of federal employees will be placed on furlough and will not report to work until Congress is able to agree on a bill for the federal budget.
