East Boston Residents Push MBTA Bus Stuck in Snow

East Boston residents jumped into action when an MBTA bus got stuck on their street on Thursday, January 4, as a winter storm brought heavy snow and flooding to Massachusetts. This footage was captured by Karen Lyons Clauson‎ and shows residents pushing a bus that got stuck on Meridian Street at around 6 pm on Thursday evening.Clauson told Storyful most of those pushing the bus were her neighbors who were outside shoveling their sidewalks.“The bus was coming up Meridian heading toward Maverick station when it slipped, lost traction, and ended up on the other side of the street,” Clauson told Storyful, adding that people “used their shovels” to dig the snow out behind the tires.“It took about 45 minutes to get the bus to move as seen in the video, it then got stuck on the opposite side of the street and people worked again to assist it in digging out. It didn’t take as long because they knew what had to be done.”Clauson told Storyful she has lived on Meridian Street since 1980 and said her neighbors are always ready to help when needed. “When it matters, East Boston residents step up and exhibit empathy and compassion,” she said, “Which is why I’m proud to be an Eastie resident!” Credit: Facebook/Karen Lyons Clauson via Storyful‎
