THE GRAMOPHONES
After playing together in a few bands in the late teens, friends Brunno Cunha (guitar) and Felipe Rangel (vox) got together one more time to form The Gramophones in 2010. A holiday spent in the countryside of Sao Paulo state, composing and playing classic southern rock, such as Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Black Crowes, as well as The Black Keys and The Racounteurs, was essential to build the foundation of this new project, distant of their former hard rock groups, but full of heaviness and ballads still.
In late 2011, the duo got in studio to record these new songs in a debut album, 'Down By The Countryside', produced by Brunno Cunha and Edu Recife. The work was released in early 2012 and what was just two needed to become a full piece band. Pedro Guy jumped on the bass and with a little help from drummer friends, The Gramophones hit the road. There were more than 50 gigs in Sao Paulo city and countryside, playing at the most important venues and independent festivals, such as Virada Cultural, Araraquara Rock and Festival Rockeria.
'Down By The Countryside' has also put The Gramophones in the spotlight in the music media, especially with the video clip of 'Mistress Hips', which was broadcast on MTV Brazil, Multishow and Canal Brasil. The band also released videos for the songs 'Irish Coffee', 'Outta Luck' and 'Anna'.
Now, The Gramophones is again in studio to record its second full length album, 'No One Believes You When You Lie', due to the end of the year. The album has also special guests, such as Thiago Guerra (Fresno) and Joe Gomes (Pitty and Joe e a Gerência).
