Amadáns & Bodhráns began with two home grown Munster men, Michael Murtagh and James Powell , two young musicians who found themselves being invited to more and more parties and events- “but make sure ye bring the instruments lads”! They soon formed a band, gigging home and abroad and have quickly become notorious in their home county of Cork for breathing new life and energy into Irish ballad music. With a vast repertoire of well known songs and an endless appetite for playing, this duo likes to spread their own brand of “Folk & Roll” far and wide!
The Amadáns & Bodhráns are determined to let people know that “Craic agus Ceol” is back in vogue. They have been described as being; “probably the best pub band in Ireland”, and have been compared to all the greats. These dashing young men are proving they can certainly bring sexy back to Irish Ballads! With an annual invite to perform for St. Patrick’s Day festivities in the heart of Manhattan, N.Y., odd television appearances and even a few caps for Munster in the Heineken cup, the Amadáns & Bodhráns seem to be destined for great things! Could these Corkonian lads be our next celebrities?
With their rebel band the Amadáns & Bodhráns have a commanding roguish presence on stage capable of winning the hearts of any audience- true “Folk & Rollers” and pure Irish!
