Grand Prize Winners From Last Year (GPWFLY), are an Atlanta based band that began performing together in 2007. Since that time they have released 2 studio albums and performed alongside acts such as Cee-Lo Green, Triple SIx Mafia, and Janelle Monae. They refer to their music as genre-less but have drawn comparisons to Bruno Mars, Prince, and most notably Outkast. GPWFLY have been featured in major publications including The Fader and J. Edward Keyes of Rolling Stone Magazine wrote: “Think full-band Outkast: These fellow ATLiens blend Dre and Big Boi's knack for nimble rhymes with weirdo spaced-out funk horns and rock making snarling songs that swivel and pounce.” Some of their recent performances include the SXSW, The A3C Festival, The CMJ Music Festival, The Roots Picnic and the 2015 Peach Drop in Atlanta. The video for their single “Electric Blue” was featured at the Atlanta Film Festival and GPWFLY has also licensed their music for use on television in ABC's "Scandal", IFC's "Portlandia," The Food Networks “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives”, and Current TV’s “The Young Turks with Cenk Uygur."
