Bitcoin prices have spiked after the launch of the currency's
futures trading. Bitcoin futures, which are traded through Chicago Board Options Exchange, surged passed $18,000 after the year began at only $1,000. Futures contracts grew by more than 20 percent after the launch. Bitcoin's value increased from $13,000 to $16,000 within just 24 hours.
