Sacha Baron Cohen Offers to Pay Fines For Arrested 'Mankini' Borat Impersonators
  • 6 years ago
Sacha Baron Cohen is willing to have the back of his fellow pranksters, especially when they get into a bit of trouble.
According to People, the actor caught wind of six Czech tourists in Kazakhstan who were reportedly arrested and fined for posing in the famous “mankinis” that Cohen wore during his 2006 movie, Borat.
Apparently authorities in Kazakhstan either don’t think the joke is funny, or arrested them simply because of how incredibly played out the gag is at this point.
Nevertheless, Cohen is coming to the rescue. People magazine reports that he made a statement saying, “To my Czech mates who were arrested. Send me your details and proof that it was you, and I’ll pay your fines.” He also set up arrestedforwearingyourmakini@gmail.com so they could reach him.
According to People, Cohen will owe 22,000 tenge, or about $68 U.S. dollars… So, a maximum of $408 USD if those fines were per person. We’re assuming Cohen will be good for it.
