Video has emerged of an avalanche rushing towards hikers occurring in one of the highest mountain peaks of Pakistan's Hindu Kush.

In the video, filmed in August but which has only now emerged online, the avalanche can be seen coming from the direction of the 7,400-metre-high Istor-o-Nal peak.

Kaleem Khan is stood on the Upper Tirich Glacier, filming as the avalanche is coming towards him and his fellow hikers.

Writes Khan: "It was the first time we saw something like this; it's a rare and strange phenomenon because these big avalanches (usually) come on snowy slopes but (this one) was on the rocks.

According to the filmer, no one was injured in the avalanche.

"My friends in the video are ... saying, 'It will come to(wards) us.' I was telling them it can't reach here so chill."

In February an avalanche that hit villages in Chitral killed 13, according to local reports, after burying several houses.
