CNN’s Jake Tapper has argued that President Trump’s recent attacks on the media would not have been tolerated had former President Obama lodged similar complaints against conservative outlets.

CNN’s Jake Tapper has argued that President Trump’s recent attacks on the media would not have been tolerated had former President Obama lodged similar complaints against conservative outlets.
During his show 'The Lead' Thursday, Tapper read one of the president’s recent tweets which states, “Network news has become so partisan, distorted and fake that licenses must be challenged and, if appropriate, revoked. Not fair to public!”
Trump’s message was a response to an NBC News report which said the president had told top officials that he wanted to boost the U.S.'s nuclear weapons capabilities by almost ten times.
In response to Trump’s tweet about news licenses, Tapper said, “He’s actually talking about getting the government to go after media organizations for reporting things he doesn’t like."
"It just boggles the mind. If President Obama had said that about Fox or Breitbart or whatever, I mean, the reaction — there would have been people with torches in the street,” Tapper added.
Meanwhile, the New York Times reported that Trump also verbally blasted the media Wednesday, saying, “It’s frankly disgusting the way the press is able to write whatever they want to write and people should look into it.”
