#No_Stadium_Without_Women: Iranian Women Are Banned From Iran's Soccer Stadiums

Iranian women in Tehran were banned from an international soccer match — and now they're fighting back against the rule that kept them out.

Though Iranian women were kept out of a stadium during a recent match, Syrian women were allowed in. As part of a rule change in the country after the 1979 Revolution, Iranian women have been banned from soccer stadiums for almost 40 years.

Recently, men have been joining the call for change. A popular Iranian women's rights page called on men to boycott stadiums in solidarity with "your mother, sister, and wife." Men responded by using the hashtag #no_stadium_without_women.

The government has not responded to the protest, but it hasn't deterred people from taking a stand.
