USS Iwo Jima Responds to Hurricane Irma

170909-N-AH771-001 ATLANTIC OCEAN (Sept. 9, 2017) Sailors attached to Helicopter Squadron (HSC) 28 and Marines attached to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron (HMH) 461 perform pre-flight maintenance on various aircraft in the hangar bay of the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) in preparation for potential humanitarian relief efforts. The preparations ensure Iwo Jima is ready to respond to any requests to bolster Northern Command’s support of Federal Emergency Management Agency’s assistance to federal, state, and local authorities’ ongoing relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.
