New app scans selfies for signs of cancer

Smile for the camera, and you could save your life. Scientists helped develop the BiliScreen app that scans your eyes for jaundice, a pancreatic cancer symptom. The eyes are a really interesting gateway into the body... sclera (whites) can tell you how much bilirubin is in your blood The app works by wearing special glasses before taking a selfie. Scientists found 90 percent of 70 participants had a correct diagnosis. Our goal is to have more people who are unfortunate enough to get pancreatic cancer to be fortunate enough to catch it in time to have surgery that gives them a better chance of survival.
