DENVER — It may have been a long time coming, but Taylor Swift has finally been vindicated in her pursuit of justice against a handsy radio DJ.
CNN reports that on Monday, a Denver federal court jury ruled in favor of Swift in the countersuit she filed against David Mueller for assault and battery. Her one dollar reward in damages is symbolic, and her team says it can be considered a win for every woman who's ever been through the same ordeal.
A controversial photograph showing Swift, Mueller, and Mueller's girlfriend served as the smoking gun in the six-day-long trial, used by both sides to support their allegations.
The groping occurred at a meet-and-greet in Denver back in June 2013, in which Mueller claimed he merely touched the singer's arms and ribs while jostling for a photo-op.
Swift called BS on that, saying the DJ grabbed her bare behind. Her former bodyguard backed her claims by testifying he saw Mueller with his hand under her skirt.
The popstar carried on with the event but was visibly upset when she told her mother what happened a short while later.
Her management told the bosses at radio station KYGO about the groping, and Mueller got sacked two days later.
The ex-radio host sued Swift, her mother, and her radio promotions manager in 2015, accusing them of using their influence to get him fired — but his lawsuit got thrown out.
In a statement made after her winning verdict, Swift said she hopes the voices of other sexual assault victims will also be heard, and she vowed to make donations to organizations helping such victims defend themselves.
