Rebels Evacuated from Lebanon to Syria After Ceasefire with Hezbollah

On Monday, August 14, members of the Saraya Ahl al-Sham rebel militia were evacuated from Arsal, Lebanon, toward the Syrian village of Fleeta as a part of a ceasefire agreement reached with Hezbollah.Local news sources reported that 34 buses took fighters and their families to the Lebanese-Syrian border under Hezbollah supervision. From there, the militias headed toward Fleeta, a Syrian village in the Qalamoun mountains under control of opposition forces.Hezbollah’s media outlets also posted video of the evacuation.The ceasefire between Hezbollah and the Free Syrian Army-affiliated Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and Saraya Ahl al-Sham started on July 27. The deal follows a Hezbollah military offensive that saw the Lebanese Shiite militant seizing territory in the border area held by Syrian rebels fighting against the Syrian government.
