During a cold and snowy week in late January, tens of thousands gathered at the Conference Center in downtown Salt Lake City to honor the life and service of President Gordon B. Hinckley, and to say farewell to the 15th President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. And two days after the funeral services, the new First Presidency was announced. President Thomas S. Monson assumed the responsibility of global leadership of the Church as its new prophet, while the First Presidency welcomed a new face from the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
