Can outlets survive the retail apocalypse?

Traditional malls have been shuttering across the country... while e-commerce is thriving. Are outlet malls destined to a similar fate? Harvard professor Donald Ngwe says so, unless they find a way to set themselves apart. Sales at outlet malls have actually doubled to about $50 billion in the past five years, according to Green Street Advisors. Outlets are now experimenting with new ways to lure in customers, like premium grocery stores.
