A cool video has emerged of a couple freeing a turtle which got stuck in mangrove tree branches.

In the footage, shot on July 6 in Port Alma, Australia, the couple approach the distressed turtle in a boat and the man can be seen breaking branches to free the reptile.

"I was a bit very apprehensive because I knew there where lots of crocodiles in the area," the filmer wrote online.

"Leisa insisted to save the turtle's life, we checked the area before tackling the turtle rescue."

"When we got closer I could see that the turtle was caught up by his left front flipper. His back was wedged in the mangrove tree branches," he continued.

"I was lucky that the mangrove tree had a branch just above the water line for me to put my foot on for balance."

"The turtle slipped into the water unharmed and said thanks guys," he added.
