Horror legend George A. Romero dies at 77

George A. Romero, the father of zombie films, Peter Grunwald, his producing partner, told the Los Angeles Times that Romero died from lung cancer on Sunday, July 16. Romero is best known for writing and directing 'Night of the Living Dead' with only a $114,000 budget. His 1978 sequel 'Dawn of the Dead' was made with only $1.5 million and grossed $55 million. Romero's films popularized the zombie genre and inspired many spinoffs, television shows, and remakes. Romero's manager, Chris Roe, posted on Facebook: Romero's other films include Knightriders (1981), Creepshow (1982), The Dark Half (1993), and Bruiser (2000).
