Originally called " Don't Trust Your Husband "
The movie centers on advertising executive Vincent Doane
( Fred MacMurray ) who has been assigned the task of securing the account of a large perfume company run by widow Margot Fraser ( Louise Allbritton) and who also just happens to be his ex fiancée. Fearing that his wife Paula ( Madeleine Carroll ) will be suspicious, Vincent pretends to be having meetings with a "Mr. Fraser."
Paula nevertheless is convinced that Vincent is up to something and, with the help of Vincent's sister Eve Lawrence, she goes to an agency to hire an actor to do some flirting with her whilst she and Vincent are out dining together , with of course the aim to get him jealous.
Unknown to her and through a change in seating arrangements, she starts flirting with cigarette tycoon Claude Kimbal ( Charles Buddy Rogers) who has been seated at the table meant for the actor.
Claude in fact gets on well with both Vincent and Paula , but can their marriage survive all the shenanigans ......
