Divers Explore the Deep Caverns and Clear Waters of Kilsby's Sinkhole

A diver explored the deep caverns of one of South Australia’s most popular diving sites on July 2.The Kilsby’s Sinkhole drops more than 65 metres and is one of 30 identified dive sites in the region, according to the ABC.The limestone cavern is regarded as one of South Australia’s most beautiful natural assets, but it has also had its fair share of controversy and tragedy. At least three divers have died at the site since 1969, with the latest in 2010 claiming the life a Victorian man who was left behind after he and a friend ran out of air. The Kilsby family, who manage the land above it and have declined several offers from operators hoping to capitalise on it, have also made news over a controversy regarding exclusive access.Brendan Calwell, who filmed this video, said he dived about halfway and said it felt more like “flying than swimming”. To create the illusion of diving in, Calwell hovered his drone from above the surface of the water and flew it into the air and reversed the video.
