Here Are The Most Famous Divorce Settlements Of All Time
#1 Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren

Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren were married for six years before ending their relationship in divorce. Being named the best golfer of all time means sparing no expense and unfortunately for him, that included his divorce settlement. His wife walked away with an estimated $100 million. She used $12 million of it to demolish and rebuild a Florida mansion where she and the couple's two children currently reside.

#2 Madonna and Guy Ritchie

Though singer Madonna didn't seem to have many ties to the directing world of Guy Ritchie, the two became a couple and were married for eight years. After raising two children together, the couple decided to split and their marriage was dissolved. Madonna agreed on a divorce settlement that let Ritchie walk away with approximately $92 million.

#3 Alec N. Wildenstein and Jocelyn Wildenstein

Alec and Jocelyn Wildenstein were married for 21 years before their divorce was finalized. Jocelyn filed for the divorce after walking in on her husband with a 19-year-old model in their bedroom and during the incident, he threatened her with a gun. In her settlement she was paid $2.5 billion and awarded $100 million each year for 13 years beyond that. As part of the settlement the judge ruled that Jocelyn could not use any of her settlement money for further reconstructive surgery. She has claimed that her unforgettable face (constructed from an estimated $4 million in plastic surgery) is a result of wanting to please her husband because of his love for large cats.

#4 Paul McCartney and Heather Mills

After dating for a few years, the couple was married in 2002, four years after the death of Sir McCartney's first wife Linda. Their high-profile wedding was one of the most elaborate celebrity weddings at the time, costing $3.2 million. The couple separated in 2006, finalizing their divorce in 2008 when Mills walked away with more than $48 million in the settlement.

#5 Harrison Ford and Melissa Mathison

Harrison Ford is known for guarding his personal life much more carefully than some other celebrities. His marriage to screenwriter Melissa Mathison was his second, they have two children together and the pair were married for 21 years. In the settlement, Melissa received an estimated sum of $85 million.

#6 Michael Jordan and Juanita Jordan

Michael and Juanita were married for 17 years before getting divorced. The decision was mutual and resulted in a settlement that paid Juanita $168 million. At the time, this was the most expensive celebrity divorce settlement of all time. The couple has three children and remain friends.

#7 Mel Gibson and Robyn Moore Gibson

Robin and Mel were friends long before he was a famous actor. The two shared a residence in a home with friends in Australia during the 70's. After 31 years of marriage, the couple's divorce was finalized. Robyn was awarded the highest divorce settlement in Hollywood history at $425 million.

#8 Steven Spielberg and Amy Irving

Amy and Steven dated in the late 70's but broke it off (a decision that cost her a role in Raiders of the Lost Ark.) The two got back together in the 80's and eventually married only to get a divorce four years later. Amy gained $100 million in the settlement after the judge dismissed a prenuptial agreement that had been written on a napkin. They've both gone on to remarry, with Amy continuing her streak of dating film directors.

#9 James Cameron and Linda Hamilton

When you have a dynamic Hollywood duo, it's always sad to see them break up but that's what happened with director James Cameron and actress Linda Hamilton after two years of marriage. The two worked together twice, a relationship that developed romantically, produced a daughter and finally, a short-lived marriage. The divorce ended with a $50 million settlement. The two have yet to work together again.

#10 Frank McCourt and Jamie McCourt

After divorcing the owner of the Dodgers, Jamie McCourt walked away with $131 million as well as several luxury homes. But Jamie McCourt's lawyers now believe this figure was lower than it should have been, as Frank McCourt under-represented the value of the Los Angeles Dodgers during the settlement proceedings.
