Michael Bloomberg has a bit of advice for President Trump.
The former New York City mayor appeared on CNN's 'Anderson Cooper 360' Tuesday and suggested Trump suspend his tweeting about the Russia investigation and fully concentrate on governance.
Bloomberg said, “It is very difficult to govern when there is a cloud around you. Having said that, the president just has to get it out of his mind, stop tweeting and focusing on running the government and let the investigation go on because without that, he will always have this problem."
Bloomberg also noted that he’s not sure if the Russia probe will turn up anything, but he does believe that “a competent independent investigation” is needed to either find evidence of wrongdoing or clear up any suspicions of it.
Trump, who appears to not find much value in the investigation, has often used Twitter to question its legitimacy.
One example is his May 18 tweet, which reads, “This is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!”
Notably, Bloomberg’s concerns about the president’s use of the social media site are preceded by many similar sentiments expressed by numerous others.
In a tweet regarding those people and their worries, the president wrote, “The FAKE MSM [mainstream media] is working so hard trying to get me not to use Social Media. They hate that I can get the honest and unfiltered message out.”
Trump added shortly after, “Sorry folks, but if I would have relied on the Fake News of CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, washpost or nytimes, I would have had ZERO chance winning WH.”
