The World’s First ‘Air Scrubbing’ Plant

by Andrew CaringiSwiss company Climeworks has built the world’s first “air-scrubbing” plant. It’s designed to eliminate large amounts of CO2 from the atmosphere by “scrubbing” the gas with filters to isolate the pure CO2, which is pumped into a greenhouse to fertilize plants. While Climeworks is currently scrubbing air on a small scale, it hopes to capture one percent of all global CO2 emissions by 2025.
