An inquest jury has recommended criminal charges against seven jail staffers in connection with death of an inmate in the US state of Wisconsin. The jurors found probable cause of a crime in the actions of the jail officials for abuse, neglect and ill-treatment of Terrill Thomas. The African-American died of dehydration on April 24, 2016 in the mental health unit of Milwaukee County Jail. Shocking details revealed that while in solitary confinement, Thomas was subject to water deprivation for seven days. The officers cut the pipes feeding the sink and toilet in his tiny cell for him not remaining calm. He lost a lot of weight and grew increasingly weaker. He spent his last days of life begging for water. The conservative Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke -who is a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump - has been under intense pressure to step down following the tragedy.
