Christina Rossetti "An Immurata Sister" Poem Animation Movie
Heres a virtual movie of Christina Rossetti reading her wonderful sad poem "An Immurata Sister"
Almost nun like in her life style the intensely reclusive Christina Rossetti (1830 - 1894) seemed to almost yearn in this lovely poem for the purity of the Immurata sisterhood an enclosed order of nuns who were immured (completely isolated) from the outside world in the belief that through living an isolated puritan existence it would bring greater holiness. Whilst Christina may have dreamed of such a lifestyle her thoughts in this poem seem to betray a disbelief that such an barren existence would ultimately provide the hoped for spiritual fullfilment.....
Kind Regards
