The Grizzly King-#0-In The Beginning

  • vor 16 Jahren
The Grizzly King is a novel by James Oliver Curwood written in 1916.
It was the inspiration for the director Jean-Jacque Annaud's 1988 film L'Ours, known in North America as The Bear.
The film is set in late 19th century British Columbia, Canada.
The main character is an orphaned bear cub who ends up befriending an older grizzly.
The film is unique in the sense that the main characters are animals and the two human actors are for the most part merely supporting features in the film; dialogue is extremely limited.
The strong points of the film are its outstanding cinematography and moving depiction of nature and animal interactions.
It did not achieve much commercial success upon its North American release but it touched people's hearts worldwide.
