Teen Steals Ambulance For Fun, Ends Up In A High Speed Speed Police Chase

Was it worth it? That’s the question one Texas teenager is likely asking himself after he stole an ambulance and led police on a dangerous high-speed chase that nearly killed multiple civilians and landed the perp behind bars.

According to Palestine police, 18-year-old Armando Vinaja was taken to the hospital after a bystander reported that he had been driving erratically before exiting his car and curling up in a ditch. When he left the emergency room, however, he hopped into an ambulance and put the pedal to the metal.

The bizarre decision resulted in a frantic pursuit by confused officers, who barely managed to keep up with Vinaja as he drove at speeds exceeding 100 mph in the stolen ambulance. The chase came to an abrupt end when Vinaja took a wide right turn and overcorrected, causing him to collide with a curb and render the ambulance undriveable.

Now, Vinaja has been slapped with a litany of charges that includes driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and evading arrest detention with a vehicle. Arresting officers reported that Vinaja was driving erratically and had a blank, far-away expression on his face, leading them to believe he was very intoxicate.d
