Nearly 200 movie theaters in the US screen '1984' adapted from the dystopian novel by George Orwell. The screening date was chosen as it corresponds to the day when the hero of the novel began rebelling against the totalitarian government by writing his diary. Organizers say the screening protests US President Trump's "disregard for the truth".
