Verizon, Yahoo reach acquisition deal after massive data breach
  • 7 years ago
Following two massive data breaches at Yahoo, Verizon is paying $350 million less than originally planned to buy out the company. The phone carrier is now going to pay $4.48 billion instead of $4.8 billion to acquire Yahoo. “We continue to be very excited to join forces with Verizon and AOL. This transaction will accelerate Yahoo’s operating business especially on mobile, while effectively separating our Asian asset equity stakes," Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer said in a statement. The deal is expected to close in Q2 2016, according to the two companies. Verizon already owns AOL, which owns TechCrunch.
