Boy Scouts will now allow membership to transgender boys

The Boy Scouts of America announced that they will accept members based on their gender identity, allowing for transgender boys to join. Membership will now be based on the gender indicated on an application. The Boy Scouts now are in line with other organizations like the Girl Scouts, who already have transgender-friendly membership policies. The decision follows an outrage that occurred after an 8-year-old Cub Scout in N.J. accused the organization of expelling him for being transgender.
