The mentors aren't just performers, they are writers, and singers and accomplished in their fields. They have what Ryan was talking about, longevity, that's who should be a mentor for sure!
Hmm... I'm 23 and I know who Dolly Parton and Neil Diamond are very well. They have artists like these on the show because there isn't anyone in "current music" that compares to the devotion, the artistry and talent that these people have. People of 'our time' will not have the duration of fame that those previous us have had. The gap in well-rounded talent between the two is huge. The only one that has the potential is David Cook for exactly that; his rounded abilities and talents even though he may not be the best vocal on the show.
I am sorry but when they ask artists like this, even ones I have no idea who are and I am 27 years old, its pretty lame. They want current music, but come on! Dolly Parton? Neil Diamond? BLEH. With that being said. TY for uploading these videos for us to see anyhow
