Spunkster must have thought "Man I'm hangin on tighter up here from now on. Poor little guy didn't have a clue the storm that he would weather in Mid July...But just like our Spunky he made it through once more. One tough little eaglet. Ms In Between on the other hand is my vote for the most succesfully fledged of the group!!!

    Hi, Glo,
I watched Mr Inbetween's "oopsy" again...actually, you could call it a "blow out," since a big gust of wind came up as he was practicing and blew him backwards out of the nest.

This is actually a fairly common method of fledging in eagles and hawks. They often lift off the nest to a height of 4-6 ft. in their later practices, and quite a few are blown out of the nest and into their first flight before they know it.

Ms In Between has returned several times to the nest since fledging. She is doing very very well.

LOL Yes movin some see it that way...actually to most of us it is MS in Between.. ( a female) .She was second born BUT the biggest of the eaglets in the end. She followed her Older but not really "bigger" brother out a couple of days later. And did get a little more updraft than I think was planned that particular flight.

Hi, Glo, I'm visiting from the W.V. Eagle's nest blog. This is a great shot, and it's the first time I've seen it.

So the male actually left the nest...backwards...a day early. Hahahaha!

This eagle thing is actually the first time I've registered and participated in blogging, and it can be very involving, don't you think?
