US sues to recover Syrian artifacts said to be trafficked by ISIS

The U.S. filed a complaint in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to recover four ancient Syrian artifacts that is believed to have been taken by the Islamic State. The antiquities include a gold ring, two gold coins, and a a neo-Assyrian stone. Last year, the FBI found that there was evidence art collectors had been offered artifacts stolen by Islamic State. U.S. officials estimate ISIS controlled about 5,000 archaeological sites, most of which was lost in the past year.
