Breaking! Salman Khan Jailed For 5 Years - Hit & Run Case 2002 | Final Verdict

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who faced a charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the 2002 hit-and-run case against him, was declared guilty by the Mumbai Sessions Court today.

Salman has been found guilty of endangering the life and personal safety of others, drunk driving, not informing the police and leaving the spot after the accident. Salman has also been found guilty of failing to report an accident involving his vehicle and the actor faces imprisonment upto 10 years.

During the course of the trial, the prosecution presented 27 witnesses including the actor's bodyguard, the bar staff, policemen and a parking attendant whereas the defence only produced Salman’s driver Ashok Singh (who claimed to be driving the vehicle at the time of the incident) as the defence witness.

Khan was accused of running his Toyota Land Cruiser over a group of people sleeping on a footpath outside a bakery in suburban Bandra on 28 September, 2002, killing one and injuring four others.

Sources claim that approximately Rs. 230 crores are riding on the superstar, who is presently busy with his two upcoming projects- Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
