Animal cruelty: couple arrested for ordering their dogs to attack wild animals

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA — A couple in San Francisco has been charged with six felony counts of animal cruelty for ordering their dogs to attack wild animals in Golden Gate Park.
San Francisco police say Kelvin Johnson, 29, and Jasmine Marshall, 26, have been ordering their dogs to attack wild animals, San Francisco’s KTVU reported.
The pair allegedly ordered their canines go after various animals including raccoons, squirrels, birds and rats while they photographed and filmed the attacks. According to the police, the couple would then publish the pictures and footage to social media.
After Johnson’s and Marshall’s arrests on Nov. 23, San Francisco's Animal Control took their pit bull mix and Rhodesian ridgeback mix into custody. A third dog has yet to be found.
The couple has already appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to the charges. The next hearing for both is on Dec. 29.
