Democratic Congressman Steve Cohen Calls Out Conservatives on Abortion Issues

Steve Cohen, a pro choice Democratic congressman from Tennessee, called out conservatives for infringing on abortion rights on Friday. Cohen expressed his disgust for the "Hyde Amendment and the Born Alive Infants Protection Act,," explaining it provides funding for the Department of Health and Human Services, effectively denying women on Medicaid funding for abortions. Cohen called the Hyde Amendment "racist" because he argued that Medicaid mainly serve segements of women with low-income and women of color. Cohen is up for reelection this November, and has already been endorsed by leading abortion rights group NARAL Pro-Choice America.
