Colombia plane crash: How it happened
A charter plane carrying the Brazilian Chapecoense soccer team crashed near the Andes while on its way to the finals of a regional tournament in Colombia. The British Aerospace 146 short-haul charter, operated by LaMia, declared an electrical failure around 10 pm, before crashing and killing 71 people. undefined An account from one of the survivors also suggests that the plane had run out of fuel only minutes before its expect landing at the airport. Colombia officials said the jet suffered an electrical failure, but there was also heavy rain when the crew declared an emergency and disappeared from radar. The cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder were found among the wreckage and are currently being investigated.
