His First Flame is a showcase for silent film era comic genius Harry Langdon. Working for the master producer Mack Sennett, Langdon is at the peak of his career playing a bemused man-child who awkwardly maneuvers through social anxieties. In His First Flame, Langdon is a lovesick college man who wants to woo his sweetheart and is too naïve to realize she’s a gold digger. Involving copious amounts of the slapstick that Sennett’s studio was famous for, His First Flame is a sidesplitting laugh fest. But included, of course, is Langdon’s trademark pantomime and ridiculous gags. His First Flame is first rate comedy from the Silver Screen.
