What happened to Michael's supporters? He should have made it to the top 4 for sure!!

I think they expected that nobody was leaving after Idol Gives Back like last year so they waited for that anouncement but it wasn't to be this time.

I honestly can't believe this....even the rest of the contestants were surprised he was the one to leave. this sucks...

I don't understand why Simon keeps insisting that his song choice was wrong. I think it fit him perfectly. And that he sang it incredibly well, actually one of his best performances, if not THE best.
I think many people were too busy 'saving' a couple of 'popular favorites' who didn't fare well Tuesday night (namely Jason and David C), that they literally FORGOT to vote for Michael.

i'm very disappointed coz he is SO good :(... but i have faith that Michael will have a good singing career beyond AI... but he should've been part of the top 5 at least *sigh*

I agree with chrobinson. It's cruel to eliminated him off guard. You can see it in everybody's face. I could understand that they'd like to surprise the audience but this is just too cruel to M. John.

I guess it's normal vote-splitting thing. Michael and David Cook has the same fan base, I think. While the others have their own fan; Syesha has gospel/black singer fan, Kristy has country/last year's Haley's fan, Carly has female rocker fan, David A is out of question because every one likes him and Jason has easy-listening fans plus horny teenagers as cmendonca pointed out. I like Jason's singing but not because I'd like to bed with him. I like it because it's more natural and less professional-trained, nice to listen in the car. It's just a matter of taste.
