Samsung launches future discount offer for Galaxy Note 7 owners

Samsung is stepping up its efforts to retain customers following the overheating Galaxy Note 7 fiasco.

It is offering a discount upgrade option to Note 7 customers in South Korea who swap their recalled phone for a Galaxy S7.

That means when the Galaxy S8 or Note 8 smartphone is launching next year they will be able to upgrade and only pay half the retail price.

The world’s top smartphone maker has not yet said if that offer will be available outside South Korea.

Samsung has also not commented on the increasing number of compensation law suits it is facing from customers in South Korea and the United States.

It permanently ended Note 7 sales due to continued reports of the flagship device catching fire.
