The late Steve Irwin, known as the Crocodile Hunter, left a heartfelt letter to his parents that his father Bob says he only found this year.
The Bob Irwin Wildlife Foundation recently posted an image of the handwritten note to its Facebook page.
Addressed to "Dad & Mum," it starts off by saying, “Probably one of the most unfortunate things in a ‘Blokes Life’ is that it takes over 30 years to realise how essential you have been to build my character, my ethics and, most importantly, my 'HAPPINESS.'”
Their son continues, “At 32 I am finally starting to figure it out, in good times and in bad--you were there; your strength and endurance to raise me will not go unrewarded. My Love for you is my strength!”
Before signing off, Steve ends with the words, “For the rest of my life I will reflect on the unbelievably GREAT times we’ve shared and will continue to share. You’re my best friends!”
The note is included in Bob Irwin’s forthcoming memoir, "The Last Crocodile Hunter: A Father And Son Legacy."
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Steve’s death.
