On Saturday, Maine’s Westbrook Police Department shared news of a massive shed snakeskin found near a river.

In late June, the people of Westbrook, Maine learned they had a new member in the community – a 10-foot Burmese python named Wessie, notes Seeker.
Though few actually saw the giant reptile, the area residents welcomed it with open arms, even establishing a Facebook page in the snake’s honor.
Sightings have dwindled over time, but, on Saturday, the Westbrook Police Department shared news of a massive shed snakeskin found near a river, igniting hope that Wessie is still hanging around.
Authorities will be performing a full examination to determine potential safety risks.
For now, they are asking locals to exercise caution, suggesting, “…people…remain alert, maintain a safe distance from any wildlife, and report any sightings of the snake to the Westbrook Police Department.”
According to the Washington Post, there have been suggestions that the skin was planted by someone, due to its perfect arrangement on the ground.
