Tiny as it was, there was media, drama, and skepticism right from the start. Corky told Jerry the contest wasn’t going on because the waves sucked. So Jerry (hands down the best guy) went home. They ran the event anyway, and Jerry ended up watching it live on Wide World of Sports. The Banzai Pipeline is one of the most intense waves in the world.
