The E.O. Green School shooting refers to the shooting and murder of Lawrence "Larry" King (January 13, 1993 - February 12, 2008), a 15-year-old student at E.O. Green Junior High School in Oxnard, California, United States, on February 12, 2008. Fellow student Brandon McInerney is currently being charged with murder and his lawyer is seeking a relocation of the venue. It was alleged that the suspect's motivation for the crime was that King was gay and had asked McInerney to be his Valentine, and as such, the shooting was deemed a hate crime murder by prosecutors.

At approximately 8:15 a.m., on February 12, 2008, an eighth grade 15-year-old boy, identified as Lawrence Fobes King (“Larry”) was shot in the head in a computer lab classroom. King was transported to St. John's Regional Medical Center and was listed in serious condition. Examiners had declared King brain dead. King was kept on life support until February 15, 2008, so his organs could be donated. It was reported that King was shot because he was openly gay and sometimes dressed in a "feminine" manner. Prosecutors have discussed charging the alleged shooter, 14-year-old McInerney, with premeditated murder with enhancements for the use of a firearm and commission of a hate crime.

OMG OUTRAGGED u r a dipshit dont blame this on the parents or the school u r making it out like its there fault he got shot its not there fault its also wasnt his fault he was gay there is only one person to blame and thats Brandon McInerney larry only asked him to be his valentine ur an idiot kid i swear if someone asked you to be there valentine would you shot them think about it its not sexual harrasment all the kid had to say is no im not gay not take an innocent life nothing justifies his actions bullyin fear omg atleast he gets to live larry now doesnt atleast hes in a better pplace oh well i hope Brandon McInerney spends the rest of his life behind bars.

I am outraged at the fact so many have failed these two boys! How can anyone judge either boy? It wasn't a simple "asking to be a valentine" for Brandon. It wasn't just a gay issue. There was also harassment, bulling, fear. The school has guidelines to follow for all students. Larry was able to stretch those rules because the faculty was afraid to put their foot down. If it was a girl going to school in stiletto’s would she be told to not wear them? If a boy walked up to a girl and told her "you know you want me" you know you love me" would he be charged with sexual harassment? There is no justification for murder but we all know when someone is pushed to their limits what can happen. I am not here to judge anyone but the amount of failure from the school and from the parents, the unheard cries from both boys is just mind boggling.. we need to do what is right for all not assume one person has more rights because of their sexuality. Stop the madness

That's awful! He didn't need to be killed. Just because the killer was being hit on by a gay teenager. The killer could have just said no and both could have lived out the rest of their lives happily. I'm sick of this aggression in our world!
