STRATHROY, ONTARIO — A tip from U.S. authorities on Wednesday led Canadian police to Strathroy, Ontario, where suspected ISIS supporter Aaron Driver was reportedly in the final stages of preparing a terror attack.

CBC reports that Driver had a homemade bomb with him, and had just gotten into a waiting taxi when police arrived and intercepted him.

During the encounter with officers, the 24-year-old suspect detonated an explosive in the backseat, injuring both himself and the taxi driver before the police opened fire. Driver was killed in the standoff.

Driver was a known ISIS follower and was arrested in 2015 for actively supporting the militant group on social media, according to Reuters. He had filmed a martyrdom video in which he warned Canada of deadly retribution and bloodshed.
