Man dies after sticking his head out of moving train in London

LONDON — A man was killed after he reportedly stuck his head out of a train window and was struck by another train.

The man died instantly after sustaining serious head injuries near the Wandsworth Common station right after 5:30 p.m. Sunday, ITV News reports.

The passenger on a Gatwick Express train was pronounced dead at Wandsworth Common station, south west of London on Sunday night, according to the Independent.

The London Ambulance Service said they were called to the station at 5:34 p.m., according to the Independent.

A British Transport Police spokesman said the accident happened as the train was making its way to London’s Victoria station, according to ITV News.

“Our investigation remains at an early stage, but initial enquiries suggest the man may have been leaning out of a train door window when he suffered a blow to the head,” the BTP spokesman said.

Officials said the man was in his 20s, and are trying confirm the his identity and contact his next of kin.
