Photo Of Autistic Girl Eating Birthday Cake Alone Garners Heartwarming Response
  • 8 years ago
A photo of an 18-year-old autistic girl celebrating her birthday alone last year has gone viral--and generated a massive response as her cousin calls for people to send her birthday cards this time around.

Last year, an 18-year-old had a birthday party all by herself, reports the Daily Mail.
Hallee Sorenson, an autistic girl from Bangor, Maine, sent out invites to classmates and friends. But not a single one showed up.
So this year, her cousin, Rebecca Lyn took to social media to make sure Hallee doesn't have to celebrate her birthday alone next month, notes WGHP.
Rebecca posted a heartbreaking picture to Facebook of her cousin sitting all by herself on her 18th birthday party. The post has since gone viral with over 140,000 shares.
She wrote, "This is my cousin Hallee...First off, she is a beautiful young woman-both inside and out. She lights up a room with her smile. Hallee is funny, sweet, caring, smart, an athlete, a jigsaw puzzle champion, a wonderful student, and a best friend to all."
Rebecca continued, "Below is the picture of her celebrating alone – eating her birthday cake. [She] will always have the mind of a child…so as you can imagine, she was heartbroken and beyond sad. But you can help make this years birthday incredible!! I would love to flood her mailbox with birthday cards, from all over! Hal loves getting mail- this would be the best birthday gift she could ask for."
