The one odd question about choosing boxes comes from the tongue-cut sparrow folklore.
It's basically a story about how you should help without expecting repayment. Also, it teaches you that greed will bring you doom/death.
The husband chooses to bring home the small box, and it's filled with luxuries. His evil wife demands he should have taken the bigger box, so she goes back to ask for the big box. On her way home, she opens the box and is greeted by monsters and demons. She deserves it, because she's evil and cut a sparrow's tongue off XD
