2016 Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin - First Ride
  • 8 years ago
Here is a seat-of-the-pants overall impression of the 2016 Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin after two days of riding in Moab, Utah. For the full explanation of the DCT (dual clutch transmission), the all new 998cc parallel twin SOHC motor, Showa suspension, ABS front and rear, and Honda Selectable Torque Control, check out dirtrider.com/tags/africa-twin. Even with our limited time on the bike, we were really impressed with the machines off-road ability and how “not weird” the DCT felt even on the trails. The manual version of the bike (with a standard clutch and shift lever) was a blast and felt like just a really big dirt bike. Honda was smart in including the Africa Twin in the CRF family. And it isn’t just in name since this machine took a lot of inspiration from the CRF250R, CRF450R, and CRF450R Rally.
