'Rangoon' Is Not Inspired By 'Casablanca', Clarifies Vishal Bhardwaj

Ever since Vishal Bhardwaj announced his next project Rangoon, there had been speculations that the film has been inspired by Hollywood classic Casablanca starring Humphrey Bogart.
However, at a recent media interaction, Vishal refuted the reports and said that the film belongs to the same period as Casablanca (Second World War), but Rangoon is not inspired by the Hollywood film. Bhardwaj further added that he had used the name Casablanca as a reference point for his film, but not to mean that one is inspired by the other.
Rangoon stars Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut. The film is slated to go on floors in December.
